HazMat First Responder Awareness (FRA) NFPA 1072, 29 CFR 1910.120

Target Audience: Employees who, by the nature of their duties, have the potential to encounter hazardous materials.

First responders at the awareness level are individuals who are likely to witness or discover a hazardous

substance release and who have been trained to initiate an emergency response sequence by notifying the proper authorities of the release. They would take no further action beyond notifying the authorities of the release. This course is designed to help workers meet the OSHA requirement for HazMat First Responder Awareness (FRA) training.

This 1-day course is comprised of the following:

• Introduction to HazMat at the FRA level

• Hazardous material recognition and safety

• Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) instruction

• Safety, Isolation, and Notifications

• Basic command

• Identification and hazard assessment (IDHA)

• Action planning
